Plates are legit. Can’t believe they are only 1 dollar a pound. I was going to go with the used market but most people online are selling their bumper plates for even more per pound which is crazy for used gear. Found lots of people talking highly about home grown on Reddit and figured I’d give it a shot when I saw the price. I’ve gotten two lifts in already and they been solid. I can’t wait to deadlift. Also they barely smell and I’ve always heard of bumper plates degassing. These don't smell unless you are right next to them and it’s just the typical rubber smell not super strong. I can only image the smell will be non existent soon. If they keep working well for me I’ll be buying some more in a few months and maybe some other gear!

Durometer of rubber is great, but still a lot of crumb dust comes off and there’s quite a few bubbles where the plate is malformed.

So far so good

I am giving the plates 4 stars. I am not dissatisfied with the weights but wanted to call out a couple of issues I have noticed after the first month. All the weights are functional, and I understood I was purchasing an economy bumper plate.
I ordered 465lb of bumper plates: 8 slim x 45lb, 4 x 10lb, 2 x 25lb, 2 x 5lb, 2 x 2.5lb.
The finish on all the plates is far from perfect. The bevel on the edges (especially the 10lb) is very inconsistent. The plates look distinctly different because of this. The color fleck in each plate is also pretty variable. Some of the plates have a very rough unfinished look at the edge; others have areas that did not get beveled at all. See the attached photos.
The slim 45s are very nice but still have some less-than-perfect finish. The bevel width again is a little variable, but it's much less noticeable than on the 10s.
There is some visible cupping/warping on the 10lb plates and 2.5lb change plates.
The 2.5lb change plates have a very slightly narrower collar than the other plates. This is not an issue on the Rogue barbell, but it's a minor inconvenience on a mace that also has a standard-diameter handle. The 5lb change plate fits no problem, but the 2.5lb do not. I have other smaller-increment change plates from another brand that also fit without issue. That, to me, confirms it's the 2.5lb plate collar issue. I have a photo of this as well with the 2.5lb sitting on top of the handle with a 5lb properly seated.
Overall, the weights work as intended. I can drop them on heavy lifts, and they hold up well. So far, the durability has been great. I am very satisfied with the value but wanted to call out the minor visual imperfections for others spending a lot of time shopping for weights as I did.

Over all these will work, I was just disappointed in the finish on them ( see pictures).

Pictured are 45,10,25. The 45 is brand new the other 2 are a year old. Love the weights, love the price, love the company. I’m so thankful to have the opportunity to support a small business instead of a large corporation. I accidentally paid with my credit card when I wanted to pay with my HSA. I contacted the company through email and they cancelled the order in 4 minutes! You really can’t beat it

Great product! Super happy with my purchases

I love these bumper plates. great price
Roberto G.5/5Verified
These are great for doing power cleans. The weight is pretty accurate. Within 1 lb of stated 45lb. You can't beat the price anywhere, and if you want plates that are accurate to within 2% you normally have to pay double this price.

Watched the Gluck’s Gym bumper plate video where he went to a machine shop and sliced every brand’s plate in half. These were the only plates where the inner ring couldn’t be removed because of how they’re anchored into the rubber, which was enough to convince me. Fairly priced and domestic produced.

Ordered 940lbs of bumper plates. Love that they are made in the US and a growing company, as well as being the best deal I could find to outfit my garage gym for barbell. I just wish they came with a sticker for my garage fridge!
Kyle J.5/5Verified
It’s a no brainer. These are some nice bumper plates. I got factory seconds and can’t see why they consider them that. All around solid deal.
Carl S.5/5Verified
I bought the 350 lb set, but added a pair of 10’s and a pair of 15’s to give me a full range of weight at 5 lb increments. They are working out great on my new squat rack.
Douglas M.5/5Verified
Good B Plates they do a good job of deadening the sound in the home gym at 4 am. Thinking about the thins for next time. Shipped fast, happy happy.
Matthew J.5/5Verified
These are excellent regardless, but especially for the price. They’re pretty dense, so not much bounce and I have to be a little more cautious in my home gym. But I don’t know that I’ll buy another brand after getting these. Absolute winners.
Stacy S.5/5Verified
arrived quickly and work great!
Eric B.5/5Verified
Great weights, but they are a little thick so can’t quite give 5 stars. The hyper thins are perfect and I will be getting more at some point. I would not shy away from any of these though.

Big fan of the bumper plates at these weights

Exactly as expected.

I absolutely love the quality of these plates. Even more than that, I love that they are made in the USA. A few months before buying these plates, I ordered a plate set from a big-box store, and those plates came out slippery with oil and horribly smelly. I wish I had known about HGL products earlier, as I would have been so much happier with a complete set of American-made plates from Home Grown Lifting.
I will be buying more from HGL next time I need to add to my plates!

Bumper Plates! Very happy with the plates 45LB, 25LB and 10LB, sofar. And I'm ordering more soon! Great over all plates that are made in America! 🇺🇸
Michael R.5/5Verified
These bumper plates are excellent, very good quality! And shipping was smooth.
Rudolfo M.5/5Verified
For the price the quality cannot be beat. For the home gym on a budget HGL’s plates are the way to go
Jim W.5/5Verified
So great - I got the factory seconds for all my weights and they are an incredible value. Minor visual defects here and there but I couldn’t care less.
Parker B.5/5Verified
I ordered one set of 45s The plates arrived in 3 days to NY . The packaging was done well and it was intact. The plates look just as pictured on the site. I weighed each plate 3 times and all times they weighed 45.1 which is perfect. Other brands sometimes are off by over a pound or worse. The 3.66" of thickness is no joke . They were a bit thicker than I expected but that's why homegrown offers the thin 45s now. For me I can mix these plates with iron to get desired weights on bar. But if It was just these I can probably fit 4 of them on each side of my bar plus some 10s. I got the standard black plates and I painted the text red and sealed it. They look very nice now with the red text to match the rest of my gym . They seem very durable and I don't think they will have any problems with my deadlifts or hip thrusts.

They were prefect for my home gym. Insane value for the price point too. Would not pass these up. Definitely will buy again when I get more
Bubba J.5/5Verified
Everything was great, aside from the 10lb pair. One of the two plates has a chip on the corner, but it is still usable!
Daniel K.3/5Verified
Great plate, thick size, and came super quickly after ordering. No oil or weird smells upon opening, which was nice
Braden O.5/5Verified
Weight looks and feels great! The thin size paired with rubber material makes the 10lb plate somewhat easily bendable, but overall good plate
Braden O.4/5Verified
Good price and fast delivery! Would buy again

Honestly I think my hopes were too high after reading the reviews on these plates. I bought them for a dollar a pound right before they went on sale for 90 cents a pound. The price was a red flag for me originally but the reviews got my buy in. I ordered 1200 pounds worth of plates and honestly a lot of them regardless of size have these 4 circular stamp marks and cracked edges. Something I would expect from ordering factory seconds not the full QA/QC passing ones. I’m in KY so I wanted to support local businesses but if I could do it again I would have bought rogue like the rest of my equipment. The price is still a factor if you just need plates and maybe I got a bad batch so for that I’ll go to the middle with 3 stars.

Opening the boxes I was so excited to get these cleaned and stacked for future workouts.
Once opened and cleaned they are exactly what I expected, nothing less. Using them for the last 2 weeks they are amazing. I have thrown them around with clean and jerks and stacked them heavy for back squats.
A bit bouncy, but that was expected with new weights. 10/10

Excellent quality for the price. Affordable and speedy shipping.
Wes F.4/5Verified
Can't wait to have all my new members slinging these plates around!
Lacey G.5/5Verified
Solid plates. Shipping was very fast. Not the cleanest edges out of the box but not complaining for the price. They are bumper places after all, meant to be thrown around. Will be purchasing more as the gym expands
Joe W.5/5Verified
Plates are great quality, are a great price, and have stood up well to being used and stored outside. Highly recommend!
Michael L.5/5Verified
They work. But someone on the assembly line should have seen that and pulled them from being shipped out.
